"Secret Ballot" & "One More Day" Highly Acclaimed in Russia
The cinema hall was packed with fans of Iranian cinema during the screening of the films earlier this week.
The films' directors responded to audience questions during sessions held at the end of each film.
Members of the audience said that Iranian films avoided violent and immoral issues and, unlike American films, they made people feel calm and peaceful.
The director of ****The Secret Ballot****, Babak Payami, said that, considering the historical achievements of Russia in the fields of music, literature and cinema, this festival is valuable, adding that he believes Russian cinema fans have deep insight and are very cultured.
Payami, who studied in Canada before the Islamic Revolution, said that he was very happy to make his two feature films in Iran and that he considers it to be an honor.
Payami added, "Since I was still in touch with Iran, I did not return to my country as a stranger. Since I had gained some experiences about life in Western countries, I made ****One More Day****, which is about the loneliness of people in big modern cities." In other festival news, the Iranian film ****The Desires of Earth**** directed by Vahid Mousaian was screened in the competition section and Iranian director Rakhshan Bani-E'temad is on the jury.
